This blog is part of Kevin Mahoney's ENG 230 Advanced Composition course for Fall 2007. Over the course of the semester, we will be considering the rhetorical construction of public discourse and how to rhetorically intervene in our public spheres. This blog will be an integral part of the writing you will do and will also serve as one of the course texts--a text that will be written by you.

Manson's problem is he takes too much pride in proving people wrong. He comes off as a boastful brat, saying essentially, Look! I'm not what you thought I was. I'm smart and literate and pensive!!!! Look look LOOK LOOK!!!
Fine. We get it. You fancy yourself an intellectual. But the fact remains that your music IS aimed at the lowest common denominator— to wit: anger. And while it's abundantly clear that you really didn't have anything to do with inspiring those psychos in Colorado, this schtick is tiresome. Yeah, you were wrongly accused and didn't deserve the blame, but come on...you don't have to memorize Freud's journals just to show us you're highly refined, or whatever.
You're obviously a classy broad. You wear make-up every day. But would you give it a rest? I'm tired of ignoring your best attempts.
